‘Mentha Piperita’ – invigorating to the mind, body and spirit. To ‘pep’ you up – that’s how we like to think of it anyway. To energise, to stimulate, to uplift when you need it most.
Most of us were introduced to peppermint via our good old Colgate toothpaste, choc mint ice cream or chewing gum (let’s just say we don’t see a whole lot of those in our life anymore). Allow us to show you just how versatile this cheerful plant really is.
Physical benefits of peppermint oil
Peppermint is very soothing for tummies, providing calming properties to help alleviate discomfort. This oil is a host of a antibacterial, analgesic, antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties.
Peppermint oil has been used to centuries to help relieve colic, gas, headaches and indigestion, depression, liver dysfunction, hot flashes and menstrual irregularity. Before bed, you can add a drop or two to your palms along with fractionated coconut oil and rub it into your belly to help digest the day just been.
Mental benefits of peppermint essential oil
Naturally stimulating and uplifting, you can pop a drop of peppermint essential oil on your fingers and rub it into your temples before we work out. Try diffusing 4 drops in the office after lunch to keep the energy up subconsciously rather than reaching for a sugar hit at 3pm.
Emotional / spiritual benefits of peppermint essential oil
This beautiful oil is known to lift people out of their emotional trials and tribulations. Being “the oil a the buoyant heart”, it encourages us to lift out of stagnant states. When inhaling the oil, it is common for people to sit taller with a straight spine due to the fullness of the pure aroma, lifting the heart space. It makes a great accompaniment to a meditation practice, or daily as a personal scent to remind you to rise up.
Using peppermint essential oil in your food
Firstly, not all essential oils are treated equally. We only recommend using essential oils internally that you know are pure and have been tested like doTERRA.
One of our favourite ways of consuming peppermint essential oil is recreating the old choc mint combo with our Organic Cacao Superfood Latte Powder.
