Back into Rhythms & Rituals

The time has come… the kids are back to school and we’re back into the swing of things. There are so many new beginnings for our little loves – their first time beginning school, their first time in a different class, their first time in a new school… whatever it may be, it’s a very special time for us all right now. It can also be a bit of a whirlwind trying to get back into our rhythms and rituals. Forgot to eat breakfast because you were too busy making sure everyone else gets fed? Yep! But it doesn’t have to be like that, so we’ve created some small and easy rituals that you can do on your own, include your kids and even your special someone to slow down your evenings. If you find you also need something grounding like this in the morning, you can do it in the mornings instead or as well as! Play around with this and see what works best for you and your little family.

Bedtime ritual

Create a ritual with your mini-me/s:

Sit on the floor in a comfortable position together before bed and each reflect on and say out loud 3 amazing things that happened today. This is a great way for you and your kiddies to practice gratitude. By taking a couple of minutes to reflect on the amazing things that happened that day, you aren’t moving from one day to the next mindlessly, you are consciously pausing and realising the gifts that came to you today. By doing this every day consistently, you will notice a shift in yours and your kids mindset, it literally reprograms your mind to a positive mindset. 

Create a ritual with your special someone:

Once everyone has gone to bed, create some space for you and your partner to spend quality time together (even if it’s 10 minutes before bed), pour some herbal tea – we personally love our Be Light Tea or the organic Sleep Tea from Love Tea – and take a moment to consciously be with each other. Life can be such a whirlwind at times so it’s really important to pause and just be. Or if you are a single mumma or pappa, use this time to connect with yourself.

Create a ritual with yourself:

Before going to bed, take a moment to sit comfortably on the ground or lay down and do 5 minutes of deep belly breathing. This will connect you to your parasympathetic nervous system, slowing your heart rate and allowing your body to rest and digest and move you away from a heightened state of fight or flight mode that your sympathetic nervous system can tend to turn on throughout the day from a variety of big or small events that happened.
