On a Wellness Journey with Candy Browne

15 April, 2024

We chat to Toowoomba business owner Candy Browne on the eve of launching Sol Cleanse to the Toowoomba community. Candy has created Fit Former, reformer pilates but not as you know it.

With over a decade of experience in the fitness industry Candy Browne has created Fit Former, a unique style of pilates that marries high intensity training with the benefits of deep toning, low impact reformer pilates. Having enjoyed our cleanses in the past, Candy is looking forward to having Sol Cleanse available in Toowoomba for herself and her clients! We chat to Candy about her passion for health and well-being and how she builds a sustainable wellness ritual.

What do you think is key to living a happy and healthy life?

Balance. I think scheduling in ways to look after all four bodies (physical, spiritual, emotional & mental) throughout your week is key to a healthy and happy life.

How do you look after your health and well-being?

Every Sunday I schedule in my week of my movement (Fit Former sessions each day) creative art lessons, dance lessons, piano lessons, my recovery sessions which include hot/cold therapy, magnesium float, Fit Former mobility class and I make time to meditate, journal, and read most mornings. I also make sure I am taking my greens & collagen each day and eat mostly an organic, vegetarian, dairy free diet.

How do you connect to the community?

Through my work. Fit Former has the most amazing community. Through Fit Former and the amazing support from its community I have been able to raise and donate $30,000 to local charities in the last 30 months since opening our doors.

Does spirituality play a role in your life? If so, how.

A big one! I have a spiritual mentor who I’ve been working with on a fortnightly basis for nearly 3 years now. I meditate and pull oracle cards and I journal most days. I am actually a qualified sound healer and reiki practitioner and partake in frequent breath work, sound healing events and retreats. Spirituality would be one of the biggest most important parts of my life and looking after myself. I have learnt so much about myself and connected in ways I would never imagined through my spiritual practices.

How has your health and wellness journey changed or evolved in recent years?

I would say spirituality has taken a huge part. And I used to over train. Now I train smartly with Fit Former HIIT sessions, Flow, Burn and Mobility so it’s a beautiful balance that I love and that my body thanks me for!

What tips do you have on building a sustainable wellness routine?

Create a balance that you can sustain with your lifestyle. Train smarter, make room for things that will allow growth, things that bring you joy and things that bring you peace. Look at and schedule your week ahead ensuring balance in all four bodies for well-being.
